 Poole Residence, photo by John Fulker 7230 158 Street Designed by Bittorf and Wensley Architects  Poole Residence, photo by John Fulker The Poole Residence, designed by Don Bittorf and James Wensley for John and Barbara Poole, is the pre-eminent example of 1960s Modern housing in Edmonton. The house is completely clad in horizontal cedar siding inside and out. A rundle stone fireplace with a cast-in-place sofa defines the main living space as well as the den on the second floor.  Photo by John Fulker Views to the surrounding landscape are framed from every space within the house. Upon entering the front door, one is treated to a view of trees by floor-to-ceiling wood-framed glazing and a small reflecting pool just beyond the window sill. The West Coast influences: wood structure, wood cladding, wood framed windows, stone fireplace, and slate flooring around the pool reference the architectural language developed by Ron Thom and Thompson, Berwick and Pratt Architects in Vancouver.
